The drawing above explain the basic network architecture which comprises of a fixed antenna (core router) on a building (Base Station) which serves as the base station and it has a coverage distance of 30km, the subscribers (Residential or office subscribers) sends wireless traffics at speed ranging from 2M to 155 M bit/sec from a fixed antenna on a building. The base station (core router) receives transmission from multiple sites and sends traffic over wired or wireless links to the switching centre using 802.16 protocol (IEEE 802.16 standards define how wireless traffic will move between subscribers and the core network). The switching centre then sends traffic to an ISP or the public switched telephone network.
